These 1 hour sessions will be recorded and later made available for those who can’t attend the live presentation.

I am very excited and love helping people learn how to ‘DO KETO Right’ and how to use current options and tools to best implement this lifestyle program for better health.

What's the Ketogenic diet?

We asked Perplexity Ai to answer this question in a couple different ways. Here is what it told us.

Provide a 1 min elevator networking pitch describing what the ketogenic diet is, who it is designed to help, and why should I consider it? “The ketogenic diet is a structured way of eating that’s very low in carbohydrates, moderate in protein, and high in healthy fats so that your body switches from burning sugar to burning fat for fuel, a state called ketosis. It was originally developed as a medical therapy for epilepsy, and it’s still used under clinical supervision for people whose seizures don’t respond well to medication. Today, versions of keto are being explored for people who are overweight, have type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, or other insulin‑related issues, because shifting to fat‑based fuel can improve blood sugar control, reduce insulin levels, and support weight loss. You might consider it if you’re looking for a more stable energy level, better appetite control, and potential improvements in markers like triglycerides and HDL cholesterol, and you’re willing to follow a clear, consistent structure around what and when you eat. Of course, it’s not a one‑size‑fits‑all solution, so the smart move is to treat it like a targeted tool—get good information, talk with a healthcare professional, and see if this metabolic approach fits your health goals and lifestyle before jumping in.” Condense that down to 30 seconds. “The ketogenic diet is a very low‑carb, higher‑fat way of eating that shifts your body from burning sugar to burning fat for fuel, a state called ketosis. It was first used medically for hard‑to‑treat epilepsy and is now being explored for people with excess weight, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome because it can improve blood sugar control and support weight loss. You might consider it if you want steadier energy, better appetite control, and improvements in key health markers, and you’re open to following a clear, structured eating plan, ideally with guidance from a health professional.” Explain the keto diet in one sentence. The ketogenic diet is a very low‑carb, higher‑fat way of eating that shifts your body from using sugar as its main fuel to using fat instead, a state called ketosis.

“I lost 40 lbs (primarily) of fat on a Ketogenic diet a couple of years ago. I did several things right and several things wrong which was perfect for me as I learned valuable lessons."

Technology Tips prior to Joining the meeting...

  • Jit.si is one of the easiest online meeting platforms to use. There is nothing to download and the cost is free. PLEASE give your computer time for it to load up before you panic.

  • Is Jit.si NOT WORKING? If the system is lagging or non-responsive, we will Switch to our other platform using the Google Meet button.

  • Test your internet speed in advance by going to https://speedtest.net and hitting GO. After a few seconds, the results should appear. You should have at least a 25 mb upload and download speed for normal operation. If you have less than these thresholds, or in case the video is slow, mute your video stream.

  • Do test the platform an hour before the meeting starts to get familiar with some of the settings such as custom backgrounds, etc.,

  • Ensure that you have the latest updates to your operating system prior to attending and that your microphone and camera are functioning properly which you can test on the system prior to the meeting.

  • Gear icon allows you to set various settings to your liking.

  • Image icon allows you to choose a background style.

  • Microphone and camera icons allow you to mute your audio and video feeds as needed.

  • Once you have joined the meeting, make the control bar appear along the bottom of your screen by simply hovering your mouse over the screen.

  • The icons from left to right are as follows: Audio, Video, Share Screen, Open Chat, Raise Your Hand, Participants, Toggle Tile View, Invite People, and More Actions.

  • IMPORTANT: After you have tested the system, please close the link at least 10 minutes before the meeting since the first one to initiate the meeting would become the moderator which must be me. Therefore, DO NOT attempt to access this link again until 1:00 pm or after to give me time to start the presentation. The actual meeting will commence at about 1:05 pm to give everyone time to log on. If you haven’t been able to access the meeting by then, please close your browser window and try this link again.

  • My tech and web developer James will be able to assist you if you run into any issues. He can be reached at 403-614-4100 by text or call.
