How Much Does an Animated Explainer Video Cost?
If you have ever wondered how much you should pay for an explainer video, you’re not alone. The cost of an explainer video is an issue that’s hotly debated, and often shrouded in secrecy. One company set out to evaluate the benchmark cost of a 1-minute video across the industry, so they contacted 70 explainer video companies and asked them a few simple questions. They pooled and anonymized the data – and the results are laid out below. (All prices are in USD).
48 out of the 70 companies responded. The lowest, highest, and average price from each company for a 60-second explainer video was:

The highest price = $72,000 - ($1200/sec)
The average price = $7,972 - ($133/sec)
Explainer Video Turnaround Time
When asked how long it would typically take to create a video from initial inquiry to completion, the turnaround time for a 60-second explainer video was:
The shortest = 14 days (2 weeks)
The longest = 84 days (12 weeks)
The average = 38.5 days (5.5 weeks)
The Cost of an App Preview Video
Each of the companies was asked how much they would charge for an app preview video (screen recorded cuts of a mobile app.) This type of video is used in the Apple App Store to help people decide before they download or buy. The lowest, highest, and average price from each company for a 30-second app preview video was:
The lowest = $200 - ($4/sec)
The highest price = $18,000 - ($300/sec)
The average price = $2,528 - ($42/sec)

When asked how long it would typically take to create a 30-second app preview video from go ahead to completion, the results were as follows:
The shortest = 1 day
The longest = 56 days (8 weeks)
The average = 17.2 days (2.5 weeks)
